Adopt an Elephant and Give the Priceless Gift of Life for as Little as $50Please adopt an elephant in order to help a rescued orphaned baby elephant in Kenya. By fostering an elephant, you can help him or her receive the highly specialized care she or he needs to be eventually reintegrated into the wild. Please donate to help us adopt an orphaned baby elephant. You will be able to follow the elephant calf's personal journey and see his/ her pictures on this site. Why Adopt an Elephant?Well, there are several reasons why you should foster an elephant...
"Saving wildlife and wilderness is the responsibility of all thinking people... All life has just one home - the earth - and we as the dominant species must take care of it." What's more, the elephants should be conserved both because they have intrinsic value and for future generations. Fostering an elephant does just that. Second, an elephant's development parallels that of humans so it is a long-term commitment that lasts around 10 years. In addition, these baby elephants are dependent on a specialized milk formula which is imported. Both these facts imply that hand-rearing an elephant is expensive and every little bit helps. CostEach adoption cost as little as $50 a year. You can contribute more if you can but $50 is the bare minimum. Caring for an elephant each year is extremely resource-intensive and costs a lot more than the average person can afford. However by pooling the funds collected from the affordable fostering program, the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is able to raise a reasonable amount to adequately care for the baby elephants in its nursery and rehabilitation centers.
