It is one of the country's favorite radio stations and according to ratings released by Gallup, the station has the highest audience reach in urban centers across Kenya. It targets the 18 to 35 age bracket as well as the young at heart. In keeping with its billing as a new hits format station underlined by its slogan "Nairobi's Freshest Hits," it plays the latest international urban and local hits 24/7 and airs snippets of news on the hour. The entire Saturday afternoon is dedicated to discussing local and international football. This discussion is often led by Kiss FM's very own football fanatic, Carol Radul, a famous Kenya radio personality who is at the helm of Jambo FM, the country's only sports radio station. Kiss FM Kenya's Star PresentersKiss FM's popular presenters are Caroline Mutoko, Kaleche Mumo and Shaffie Weru. Caroline MutokoThe very articulate and neat Caroline Mutoko , regarded as the undisputed "Queen of Kenya Radio" is the main presenter of the early morning no-holds-barred program "The Big Breakfast Show." She used to co-host the show with comedian Walter Mong'are aka "Nyambane" who has now joined the Nation Media Group's Swahili station Q FM. Before joining Kiss FM, Mutoko used to present the mid-morning show on Capital FM. In October 2008, she told K24's Capital Talk hosted by former CNN International Correspondent Jeff Koinange that she wanted to take time out of her rigorous schedule - which also includes managing the station's Sponsorships and Promotions - to have children. In 2003, Martha Karua, Kenya's former Minister for Justice and 2012 Presidential contender, sued the radio station because of allegedly unsavory comments Mutoko made about a midnight carjacking incident involving the Minister and Father Wamugunda, a catholic priest. In apparent recantation of the controversial remarks on Karua, Mutoko - also on Capital Talk - heaped praise on Karua for blazing the trail for budding female politicians in the country. Kaleche Mumo and Shaffie WeruKaleche Mumo and Shaffie Weru co-present Kiss FM's highly acclaimed and unpredictable drive show on weekday evenings. Their "Gotcha Crew" is particularly famous for pulling pranks on their hapless victims. Patrick QuarcooKiss FM is part of Ghanaian mogul Patrick Quarcoo's regional media empire which includes Classic FM and the country's first tabloid, Nairobi Star (now called The Star) as well as Uganda's pioneering independent radio station Capital FM. Quarcoo is himself the main host of the incisive radio talk show Crossfire which airs on Kiss FM on Sunday evenings during politically-charged months such as just before the general elections and referendums. Kiss TVTo complement its radio operations, Radio Africa launched Kiss TV in August 2009, the first TV station in Kenya to provide free digital broadcasting. Kiss TV, dubbed "Kenya's first 24-hour entertainment channel," will play local, African and international music videos. It will also feature art, fashion and entertainment news.
