Nairobi Safari Club - The Only All Suite of the Nairobi Hotels

Nairobi Safari Club is the only one of the Nairobi Hotels which is all suite. In other words, it is the only hotel in Nairobi where each and every room offers separate sleeping and living areas, providing a lot more room than the average hotel room.

This is probably why the Safari Club Hotel Nairobi is rated among the top ten Nairobi hotels by travelers.

Accommodations

The hotel offers 3 types of accommodation options; presidential, panorama and executive suites.

Nairobi Safari ClubThe most luxurious of these is the presidential suite which boasts a very spacious lounge and bedroom.

It also has an in-room dining table and bar counter. A Jacuzzi and shower in the bathroom compliment this suite's exquisiteness.

Each of the panorama suites is equipped with an en suite bathroom, lounge, dining table and personal bar.

Every one of the executive suites offers a separate lounge, private bathroom and a balcony.

Satellite TV, tea and coffee making facilities and an electronic safe are standard features in all the rooms. So you can quickly and safely lock away your money, passport and other valuables each time you pop out of the room, giving you that invaluable peace of mind.

In addition, each room receives complimentary mineral water and a local daily newspaper everyday.

Services and Amenities

The Nairobi Safari Club's services and amenities are designed to complete the guest's comfort.

  • The business center is equipped with personal computers, color printer, fax and photocopier and 24 hour internet access. These ensure that you keep abreast with all personal, official and political developments back home.

  • The hotel boasts 7 conference rooms that cater for meetings and banquets of between 10 to 300 people. Its conference package is one of the most competitively priced in Nairobi.

  • 4 restaurants provide the international traveler with a range of dining options.

Nairobi Safari ClubThe Safari Restaurant serves generous portions of international cuisine that includes both table d'hote and a la carte menus. 5 dining options range from casual to formal.

The Sundeck Pizzeria and Grill is famous for its pizzas and meat roasts as well as its relaxing outdoor atmosphere overlooking the University of Nairobi. It is particularly popular during the Happy Hour, where every Friday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, revelers enjoy substantially lower bar prices.

The Safari Terrace Bar provides guests with an opportunity to enjoy drinks and light snacks such as sandwiches, fish fingers and chicken drumsticks in a serene environment.

The Pool Deck is a great place to enjoy a variety of drinks and light meals right next to the hotel's swimming pool.

  • The Nairobi Safari Club's health center consists of a steam bath, sauna, massage parlor and a gym which is manned by trained fitness instructors. What's more, use of the health center is free for the hotel's residents.
  • The hotel's swimming pool is heated, a rare feat in Nairobi where only a handful of hotels have heated pools. It is therefore a great place to dip off the day's stresses or exhaustion and will particularly be appreciated during the rather chilly months of June to August.

  • The gift shop sells everything from toiletries, postcards, memory cards, safari gear to a variety of African traditional carvings that make for excellent souvenirs.

Resident Guest Reviews

This section highlights what real travelers liked and disliked about the Nairobi Safari Club Hotel.

What Guests Liked

  • Safari Club Hotel Nairobi's central location. It is just across the road from the University of Nairobi and within walking distance of the Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC) and government offices.

It is also just around the corner from Nakumatt Supermarket, enabling you to quickly pick up any toiletries you forgot to carry or stock up on juices.

Owing to its central location, it is also easy to organize excursions to the popular Nairobi tourist destinations such as the Nairobi National Park, Nairobi Safari Walk, David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and the Giraffe Center, home to about a dozen endangered Rothschild giraffes.

  • Attentive, courteous and friendly staff.

  • Spacious rooms. The separate bedroom and lounge mean you don't have to hit your toes on the corner of the bed as you try to maneuver around cluttered rooms.

  • The great atmosphere in the Safari Terrace bar and the savings during the happy hour.

  • The food is both excellent and affordable.

  • The gym is well-equipped and manned by knowledgeable and helpful staff.

  • Quick and hassle-free check in.

  • Well-equipped conference rooms and reasonably-priced conference packages.

  • Lovely, welcoming reception area that has marble and granite floors and comfy leather settees.

  • Well-stocked and reasonably priced gift shop. If you are not prepared to haggle at the Masai markets, this is a great place to pick up some quality African carvings and sculptures.

  • The spacious rooms, raft of amenities and good food make Nairobi Safari Club very good value for money.

What Guests Disliked

  • Because it is located by a busy road, some rooms are quite noisy and it is difficult to catch a good night's sleep. For a quiet night's sleep, be sure to insist on a room that is both located on the higher floors and away from the busy University Way.

  • The hotel has not been refurbished in a while and could do with some major retrofitting.

  • While the internet is available in all the suites, it is slow and expensive as it is not included in the room rate (Tip: If you are in Nairobi for a couple of days and require to use the internet frequently, it is a good idea to get hold of an Orange or Safaricom modem from their respective dealer shops. Both are easy to set up as they are plug and plays and, they will save you quite a bit of money).

  • The restaurant service can be quite slow so don't wait until you are ravenous to order your dinner.

Summary

Safari Club Hotel Nairobi fittingly prides itself as the only all suite hotel in Nairobi. It is, in this sense, peerless. That all the hotel's accommodations offer separate sleeping and living areas for the price other hotels in Nairobi charge for a much smaller room is a tremendous plus.

Therefore, if you place a huge premium on spacious rooms but are not prepared to pay the earth for them, Nairobi Safari Club hotel is certainly your best choice.
